“Go Cali Bilingual City” Supporting the program English Together

As we shared with all the school community, since the beginning of this school year, we got involved in the city project named: “Go Cali, Bilingual City” which purpose is to help students in public schools to be more proficient in English.

15 students from our school are participating in this initiative that involves 15 bilingual institutions and 15 public schools in the city. The main goal is to help students in public schools to improve their English level by attending 10 sessions in the program English Together.  In our case, students from Berchmans are sharing this experience with 60 students from Normal Superior Farallones.  These sessions started last October and they will go until May this year. Our students have been working in the planning process to create a meaningful immersion environment for the incoming students; this has meant to our students a training on how to teach English in a fun way so that classes can be very attractive to our visitors.  So far, we can say that it has worked well!

As the host school, Berchmans   provides students coming from La Normal with the necessary materials for their classes, a snack, as well as the use of our campus. We know that in the long term this project will contribute to the development of these students and to the city.  For our school this is a way to be more to serve better.
